Take5 Mason has been created to help inspire students, faculty and staff at George Mason University to infuse the ideas of ethics and ethical leadership into our daily lives. Ethics is not just for people who love reading complicated philosophy books, it is for ALL of us. Ethics basically addresses the question: “How should we live our lives?”

Here’s a quick example that you may not typically think of when considering ethics: telling a joke that makes someone laugh can be very ethical. You may be trying to bring comfort to someone during a stressful time and the joke eases their stress. To “Take 5” basically means to pause in order to be aware of our thoughts, feelings and actions. We believe that by taking 5 to consider the ethical components of our everyday decisions we will be more likely to fulfill the main goal of George Mason University… to be a university for the world.
